If you had thought that taking care of a baby was only about feeding him/her at the right times and changing a few diapers, it’s high time you took a broader perspective! As a responsible parent, you need to ensure the overall well-being of your little darling. An infant, of course, will not be able to express his/her discomforts/needs verbally – and it is up to you to gauge the same, and provide the right health care for him/her. Over here, we will be discussing on a few pertinent health care tips for babies:

Get your infant vaccinated – Get in touch with a qualified medical health care service provider, and find out about the vaccines your kids require. Take him/her along for the vaccinations at a local medical center. That would keep the little one safe from serious health problems in future.
Take care while bathing a baby – No; bathing a baby boy/girl is not only about cute water ducks and lots of soap bubbles! Use good quality baby oils, soaps and shampoos, to keep the skin and hair of the kid nice and healthy. Make sure that the bathtub you are using has high sides – so that there is no risk of the infant toppling over. Never let your kid catch a nasty cold – by prolonging the bathing session beyond the necessary time.
Make sure that the child is sleeping enough – If your baby is sleeping lots – that’s a healthy sign. Find out the number of hours of sleep that a baby requires, and make sure that your kid is getting the same every day. Insomnia in a baby can make it restless, and prone to other serious health problems.
Check the body temperature of the kid – Find out if your baby is suffering from fever, by using a reliable thermometer to gauge its body temperature. If yes, contact a child care expert immediately. You will never be able to find out if it’s only a case of common cold, or whether the elevated temperature is a result of food poisoning, diarrhea, or other causes. Why take a chance?
Do not keep electric wires, coins or other small pieces within easy reach – If you are a first-time parent, you might not be aware of this – but little kids have a tendency to put everything to their mouth. Do not keep coins, pins, or other such small items lying about, which can choke a baby. Keeping electric wires or switches within the reach of children is also a strict ‘no-no’. Your infant might start playing with the wires, with disastrous consequences!
Keep infants away from direct sunlight – Except for maybe a few hours in a day, do not keep your baby exposed to harsh sunrays. Don’t assume that you can apply sunscreen lotions on an infant’s skin, and keep his/her cot in bright sunshine. Such sunscreens generally have chemical ingredients, which can cause more harm than good – particularly if your child is less than six months old.
Spend adequate time with your kid – Do not let professional commitments or daily household chores prevent you from spending the requisite amount of time with your baby. Play interesting, entertaining games with him/her, and decorate his/her cot nicely. If you are with your child for long enough, you will also be able to detect symptoms of ill-health quickly.
Have the contact details of a noted child health care service professional close at hand, who can be called upon during emergencies. Take good care of your li’l child – and make your home come alive with baby laughter!

Health Tips For Teens Biography

Source (google.com.pk)
When I was the mom of two toddlers, I thought that I'd have so much less to worry about as the years passed. But now that my daughters are in their teens, I know that worry still exists – and it's still strong.

I no longer have to worry about them sticking fingers into electrical sockets or drinking something from under the sink. But I do spend time thinking about how their lives will be after they leave the house. Will they be happy? And more importantly, will they be healthy?

I surely hope so, and that's why I took comfort in the results of a European Heart Journal study published this month. The study indicates that teens who are more physically active may be less likely to suffer a heart attack later in life. The study was done on adolescent boys, but I can only imagine that regular exercise in these years is good for the girls too.

My daughters have always played sports and been active in other ways, and they have some good eating habits too. But what can you do if your teenagers seem to be following an unhealthy path? They are on their way to adulthood, so the teen years are a good time to cut off problem behaviors before they begin. [10 Ways to Promote Kids’ Healthy Eating Habits]

But, also because they are on their way to adulthood, it can sometimes be difficult to get through to teens.

Here are my tips for encouraging teens to be healthy:

Encourage fun activities. Remember that physical activity doesn't always mean going to the gym or playing softball. It can be dancing, dirt biking or jumping rope. If an activity gets them away from the television screen and gets them moving, it's probably a good thing.
Don't push too hard. If you have a child who isn't used to working out or playing sports, you may need to ease into a desired activity level. It'll depend on your child, of course, but pushing too hard for fitness and activity could have the opposite effect.
Share the research. "Because I said so," is an argument that usually stops working with kids at a very young age. Instead, share with your teens the scientific evidence that they will be better off with regular exercise, and then let them make the decision. For example, they may not know that exercise may boost brain power in teens, a definite plus during SAT prep. A 2013 study in the British Journal of Sports Medicine found that the more physically active participants were, the better they performed in school.

Whether you like to cook or not, you most certainly have heard the name Tarla Dalal. A noted Indian chef whose culinary skills inspired several first-timers to venture in the kitchen and whip out something easy yet tasty, breathed her last this morning. She died of a heart attack at 7 AM today morning at her residence in South Mumbai.

Tarla Dalal was not only India’s first master chef; she brought cuisines from four corners of the country to people’s homes. To paraphrase Tagore, she broke down the narrow domestic walls, and she did it gastronomically. Her books had a thousand recipes from across the country and it introduced the different cultures in India to their brethren’s cuisines.

Mrs Dalal started cooking classes from her home in 1966 and soon her passion led to the publication of the her first book in 1974. The book was a huge success and over a 100 more followed. Many of them were translated into a variety of languages including Hindi, Gujarati, Marathi, Bengali and even Dutch and Russian! She was awarded the Padma Shree by the government of India in 2007.

To battle with increasing obesity and health issues, in 2007, she started the Total Health Series which included The Pregnancy Cookbook, Baby and Toddler food, Delicious Diabetic Recipes, Fast foods made Healthy, Zero Oil Rotis & Subzis, Healthy Soups and Salads, Cooking with 1 Teaspoon of Oil, Low Calorie Sweets and Calcium Rich Recipes and other healthy options. Even in today’s digital age, the Tarla Dalal brand lives on with her website offering over 15,000 different recipes.

The Tarla Dalal Facebook page left a message:

Dear All,

We would like to thank all of you for your support and affection through the years of Mrs. Tarla Dalal’s career. She is no more with us as she expired in the early hours of this morning. We thank her for all the happiness that her talent has given to us and our families…

With all our love,
Tarla Dalal’s Team

We guess that’s as good an analogy as any. There’s no greater joy than that joy of food and Mrs Dalal gave it to us for a long, long time!

Heart Health Tips Biography

"I was given a second chance to live," says Mariano, who is Hispanic and lives in Illinois. He started smoking at 15, and at the age of 47, Mariano woke up feeling dizzy and sick. He also started sweating a lot. Mariano went to his doctor, who told him that he was on the verge of having a heart attack. "He told me, 'You have a very big problem with your arteries. Your blood pressure is very high,'" says Mariano. He was hospitalized that day. Three days later, he had open heart surgery to replace blocked blood vessels in his heart. "I got lucky," he says. "I smoked my last cigarette when I got the notice about the surgery. I should have quit smoking years ago and probably could have avoided all these problems." He hasn't smoked since.

Mariano started smoking when he was 15 years old because a girl asked him for a cigarette, and he wanted to impress her. His family didn't know he smoked until he was 18 years old. Eventually, he was smoking two packs a day. Mariano says he didn't realize the damage cigarette smoking was having on his health year after year until he faced open heart surgery. "I knew then that big problems were caused from smoking cigarettes."

"The open heart surgery I had in 2004 was brutal," he recalls. "Especially when I think that if I had quit smoking years ago, I could have avoided all these problems." Even though his recovery from the surgery was painful, Mariano realized how lucky he was not to have a heart attack that day—and that he didn't die. He is grateful for having been given a second chance at life.

"After the surgery, the doctor told me the sooner I walked, the better." So, Mariano walked the floor of the hospital. When he went home, he started walking around the house, then eventually around the block. A month later, he was walking 10 blocks. Without cigarettes, Mariano found he had more energy. "When I smoked, I couldn't walk 4 blocks. Now I can walk 5 miles without a problem!" Along with having more energy, Mariano, who loves to cook, noticed that food tastes better now that he doesn't smoke.

"Everything is different now," he says. Following the surgery and after he quit smoking, Mariano decided to live his life in a different way. He now takes more time to enjoy family and friends, including his young child. He was able to go back to work and now he only accepts jobs in smoke-free environments. "I see the consequences of smoking and secondhand smoke," he says. Mariano says he is paying the price for smoking. He constantly has to monitor his health and will have to take medications the rest of his life.

Mariano lifts up his shirt and points to the long scar on his chest that reminds him of his close call and says, "When I see someone who smokes, I say, 'Look at this scar. Do you want to have this? Sooner or later, the time will come when you will likely have something like this.' I had a wake-up call, and now I feel good." Mariano is determined to keep it that way. He quit smoking and never looked back.
